Naughty Nooner – Magic Graves by Jeaniene Frost & Ilona Andrews

30 Sep

Happy Friday!  It’s been a busy morning so I’m excited to take a break and start reading this duo.  I’ve been in love with Bones since I read Jeaniene’s Halfway to the Grave when it came out years ago and I was only too happy to download this last night.  He can turn his green-eyed gaze on me anytime ;)

I haven’t read any of the Kate Daniels series (yet), but from the sounds of it, I’ll be downloading those next. I love a good paranormal mercenary story.

Synopsis (from Amazon):

Jeaniene Frost’s story, One for the Money, features vampires Cat and Bones trying to protect a spoiled heiress with a price on her head and an undead hitman on her trail. Previously published in Death’s Excellent Vacation. Also includes the first three chapters from Jeaniene’s story in The Bite Before Christmas anthology, as well as a sneak peek at ONCE BURNED, the first novel in the new Night Prince series.

Ilona Andrews’ story, A Questionable Client, is a prequel to her award-winning Kate Daniels series. In a world beset by magic waves, Kate Daniels works as a mercenary. She is tired, hungry, and there is foul-smelling blood on her boots. All she wants to do is to go home, but when Mercenary Guild offers her a job she can’t refuse, she finds herself protecting a man against Russian wizards. Previously published in Dark and Stormy Knights. Also includes first two chapters of FATE’S EDGE, book 3 in the Edge series, and first two chapters of Magic Grieves, a Kate Daniels novella.

Man Candy Morning #009 – Ryan Lochte

12 Sep

I realize it’s not morning, but it is Man Candy Monday, so we’re running with it.  I don’t remember how exactly I found this swim god, but he just might be the inspiration for my next hero.  Broad shoulders and a narrow waist with abs cut enough to grate cheese on < g >, Ryan Lochte fits my type to a T.  Plus it doesn’t hurt that he’s won a bunch of gold medals.

Naughty Nooner – Ready or Not by Anara Bella

1 Sep

It’s finally noon and I only have one hour to spice up my day before I head back to the trenches.  And on today’s agenda?  Ready or Not by Anara Bella.

I’ve read Anara’s books in the past and loved their short, sweet nature.  Not to mention off the charts sexual tension.  So this book’s got some high expectations to meet!  I took a quick peek at the first chapter last night and it took all my will power to put it down; it’s off to an exciting start.

Synopsis (from Amazon):  A stodgy lawyer butts heads with a free spirit. Let the mattress dancing begin! At first, Brianna Michaels’ agreement to fill in as a bachelor party stripper sounds like a win-win situation. She’s returning a favor to a friend, and earning some much-needed cash. But when she sees the man she’s lusted after for years in the audience, baring all suddenly doesn’t seem like such a hot idea.

Quinn MacRae stops the show—literally—when he reacts instinctively to protect Brianna and her reputation. Plus, it’s nearly unbearable to see exactly what he’s been missing. As an attorney with a prestigious law firm, he’s sure of one thing. Brianna would hate living in his world. She’s the last woman he should be lusting after. But lust he does—with a vengeance.

RWA 2012

9 Aug

Before I get into the RWA details, I’d like to assure you all that I am indeed, still alive.  Sorry for the abrupt break, but I’ve been doing a lot of writing lately as I’m quickly closing in on the ending of my first book.  With only a chapter and epilogue left (and then of course, some massive editing), I’ve been pretty distracted.

And finishing up means I’ll get to dive into the publishing realm once I’ve put the final coat of polish on it.  This leads me to the subject of this post, next year’s Romance Writer’s of America conference, RWA 2012!  After hearing all of the fun updates via Twitter this past year, I’m very very eager to attend the next one.  Even better yet, it’s being hosted right in my backyard in Anaheim, CA.  Here are the details:

We fall in love with their characters, their story.  So much so we come back week after week to find out which odds they’ll beat next.  Here are the best TV couples according to yours truly.

1. Buffy and Angel – Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Forbidden Love.  It was their star-crossed romance that got me.  Besides they were the vampire couple BEFORE the whole Twilight madness.
